New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's claim has been categorically rejected by Singapore's health ministry. In fact, Kejriwal had tweeted claiming that a new strain of corona infection has arrived in Singapore, which could be extremely deadly for children. It was also said to be the third wave in India. After which the Health Ministry in its statement has said that there is nothing like the Singapore variant.

It was only after CM Kejriwal's tweet that the Indian media also started showing news of the Singapore strain. Kejriwal had tweeted on Tuesday (May 18, 2021) that "The new form of corona found in Singapore is said to be extremely dangerous for children, which could come as the third wave in India. I appeal to the Central Government to cancel air services with Singapore with immediate effect and work on vaccine options for children as well on priority basis." Following the same statement, a series of reports were reported in our country's media on May 18, quoting CM Kejriwal as saying that the corona virus strain found in Singapore was deadly.
Later, the Singapore Ambassador also reacted to Kejriwal's tweet. He shared the Health Ministry report and wrote, "There is no reality that Singapore has a new COVID strain. Phylogenetic testing has revealed that B.1.617.2 variants in Singapore have been found in several covid cases, including children, in recent weeks." Reacting to Kejriwal's claims, Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said international flights to Singapore have been suspended since March 2020.
