HYDERABAD: A traffic accident in Telangana's Mulugu district killed six persons and injured two others on Saturday, police said.

At Errigattamma village, a speeding van collided with a stationary auto-rickshaw, killing six persons and injuring two more. Four people died on the spot, while two others died at the MGM Hospital in Warangal, which is run by the government. At the same hospital, the injured were being treated.

Except for the auto-rickshaw driver, the deceased were all members of the same family, according to police. They were on their way home after visiting the Annaram Shareef Dargah in Warangal. They were all from the same village, Komatipally, in the Mangapet mandal of the same district. Ajay (12), Kiran (16), Kausalya (60), and Jani (23) were killed on the spot. At the hospital, Vansanta and Vennela died. A case has been filed, and an investigation has begun.
