Skoda has announced that its new Slavia sedan will be released in March of next year. The Skoda Slavia will take the place of the Rapid, which is unlikely to return to India with a facelift. The Slavia will join the Octavia and Superb in Skoda's premium sedan lineup.

The Slavia was presented by Skoda in November of this year. When it is released, it will compete in the midsize sedan sector against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, among others. The Skoda Slavia is projected to cost between ten and seventeen lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Skoda Slavia measures 4,541 mm in length, 1,752 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height and is based on the Czech automaker's MQB A0 IN platform. The all-new Slavia is 128 mm longer, 53 mm wider, and 21 mm higher than the Skoda Rapid. The Skoda Slavia also features a 99-millimeter longer wheelbase than the Rapid, giving it extra interior room. It is also larger than the Octavia of the first generation.

The Skoda Slavia's interior has a dual-spoke steering wheel, which is also used in the Kushaq SUV. The centre 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system looks to be taken from the Kushaq SUV as well. Other elements of the dual-tone interior include rear AC vents, wireless charging, a digital cockpit, and a panoramic sunroof, among others.

Skoda will offer a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine and a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine for the Slavia. The smaller three-cylinder petrol engine produces 113 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. It's available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The bigger 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

The Skoda Slavia will be equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX, TPMS, Hill Hold Control, ABS with EBD, and ESC, among other safety features.
