New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Friday accused the opposition Congress of using farmers and their issues to their advantage, describing it as a sinking ship. Indirectly stabbed former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he said no one can say when he should go on holidays.

Irani has arrived here to campaign for the BJP candidate Brijesh Merja. Morbi is one of the eight assembly constituencies in Gujarat where bye-elections are proposed on November 3. Addressing a gathering, Irani said, "The Congress needs to decide who their leader is. Is he a person or a family? In politics, if you are blind in the fascination of a family, you will never understand the sufferings of the poor and the middle class citizens. Because the Congress is a sinking ship, I wonder how it will be able to help the people of Morbi?"

She said that today when the corona epidemic is spread, a Congress leader is not among the people. On the other hand, BJP workers are living with people every moment. Irani, without naming Gandhi, said, "The former Congress president was not even present in Parliament, he went on holidays. He was not there when people needed them. ''
