Kolkata: Smriti Irani, who won from Amethi in the Lok Sabha elections, is one of the popular faces of the Modi government. The memory of defeating a powerful leader like the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi was in the news. Amethi is considered the stronghold of the Gandhi family. Smriti Irani while talking about her victory said that she won this election because she did not consider citizens her vote bank. Smriti was speaking at the 17th edition of Devi Awards held in Kolkata.

Smriti said that when people are hungry and you become Prime Minister because of them, then in such a situation I do not find myself comfortable. I have not considered him a vote bank in five years. During this time I really connected with her as a colleague or family. This is why I won. Without naming the Gandhi family, he said, 'The family that had been winning the Amethi seat for the last five decades. He should not have lost in the 2019 election.

She also said that she does not believe in acting like a film artist in politics. Smriti said in the meantime that she seeks out the problems of 25 lakh people of Amethi and works with zeal to solve them. Smriti Irani also fought from there in 2014 and gave a tough fight to Rahul Gandhi.
