Dallas Sting, a movie starring Matthew McConaughey about soccer, has been cancelled just six weeks before it was scheduled to begin filming because of "disturbing allegations" concerning the true story it was based on. The movie based on Bill Kinder, the coach of a group of Dallas high school ladies who travelled to China in 1984 and defeated big women's teams from China, Australia, and Italy, was to feature Matthew McConaughey in a pivotal part.

The Skydance production firm allegedly received "charges of misconduct" surrounding the genuine story, and after an investigation it was determined that the allegations were sufficiently significant to cause the cancellation of the movie.

According to The Daily Mail, the corporation received the accusations against Bill Kinder, 83, from an unidentified source. According to the source, Kinder was charged with using "inappropriate nicknames" and touching one participant "outside their garments" in the enigmatic letter.

These claims were denied by the Dallas coach, who noted that the letter "was pretty vague" and "nothing ever transpired."

Ryann Torrero, a professional soccer player who was cast in the film, also expressed sorrow that the endeavour had been abandoned despite the efforts of many. The Daily Mail, she claimed, "I'm devastated about the movie and this wonderful opportunity not moving forward as I know many people have worked extremely hard on it."

Torrero continued, "But the most important thing here is that any concerns about misconduct or abuse are investigated and if guilt is found then justice be served. I hope the truth comes to light."  Among the ensemble cast of the film was Kaitlyn Dever, who played the coach's daughter in Dopesick. The film's script was written by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, and Kari Skogland, who directed Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, planned to direct it.
