The Pandava son Yudhishthira had lost his wife Draupadi in that gambling to his brother Duryodhana. With this deceit, the Kauravas took the entire kingdom from the Pandava sons. It is said that another chapter of Mahabharata is related to solar eclipse. In fact, the day the Pandava son Arjuna killed Jayadratha with the help of Sri Krishna, that day was also a solar eclipse. Due to the solar eclipse, Arjuna succeeded in killing Jayadratha. Arjuna severed Jayadratha's head from his arrow, fell his head into Jayadratha's father's lap. Solar eclipse is also related to Lord Krishna.

On the day the city of Dwarka of Sri Krishna was submerged, there was a solar eclipse on that day. Even when the great grandson of this city resettled, there was a solar eclipse on that day. It is said in the scriptures that on the occasion of solar eclipse in Kurukshetra, Goddess Radha along with Mother Yashoda and Nand Baba also came to bathe. After leaving Gokul, Radha Krishna met again on the day of eclipse. During the Mahabharata war, Arjuna pledged to kill Jayadratha till sunset. Arjun had said that if he could not kill Jayadratha till sunset, he would take Agnisamadhi.

Wars begin Arjun's eyes were searching for Jayadratha, but he is nowhere to be found. The Kauravas had formed a security line to protect Jayadratha from Arjuna. At the same time Lord Krishna knew that solar eclipse is going to happen today. Jayadratha and Duryodhana jumped with joy as soon as the eclipse began. Jayadratha came in front of Arjuna saying that the sunset has been set, now you take Agnisamadhi. Meanwhile, the eclipse ended and the sun started shining again in the sky. Arjuna killed Jayadratha in a blink of an eye. In this way, due to the eclipse, Arjun's life was saved.
