The first solar eclipse of the year will occur today, June 10, and, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), will be visible to people across the northern hemisphere. NASA describes solar eclipse as an astronomical phenomenon which occurs when the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth, casting a shadow on the latter, fully or partially blocking the Sun's light in some areas.

This celestial event comes just days after the year’s first super blood moon and total lunar eclipse, which happened last month, on May 26. This solar eclipse, will unfortunately won’t be visible in the entire country. People of Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh are the lucky ones who will get to witness the celestial event. Today’s solar eclipse, which is being dubbed as ‘Ring eclipse’, will be a one of a kind, because this time, there will be more distance between the moon and the earth.

The moon will appear like a dark disk and cover the sun to form a cosmic halo, and this ‘hide and seek’ between the sun and the moon will give birth to the rare phenomenon called ‘ring of fire’. The ring of fire will only be visible in some areas and not everywhere. Apart from few parts in India, Greenland and Northern Russia will witness the annular eclipse, whereas most of the parts of Canada, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and northern Africa will experience a partial solar eclipse.
