PANAJI-GOA: The Goa Congress on Saturday, August 27, demanded that the BJP leader Sonali Phogat death case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Currently, the Goa Police are investigating the case. Calangute MLA Michael Lobo's reaction came after Goa police on Friday detained Phogat's PA Sudhir Sangwan along with Sukwinder Singh in connection with the murder of Phogat, also a TikTok star.

"I agree with Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, who said that he is willing to allow the CBI to conduct an investigation. Despite the fact that the crime took place in Anjuna (Goa), the actual narrative is in Haryana " he said.

Although Goa police have made two arrests,  if there was any other perpetrator, he should also be held accountable,  Lobo  said. "The CBI investigation is required. I don't believe the Goa police will reach a verdict. Police in Anjuna cannot undertake the inquiry since they don't appear to be knowledgeable, he said.

"Also, it needs to be looked into further to see if the two guys that were with her are actually the two accused or if the crime was done by someone else. It is necessary to look at every possibility. Haryana is to blame for the crime. There appeared to be more participants. From Haryana, let the probe begin "Lobo argued.

Such occurrences, he said, damage Goa's reputation. "The inquiry by the police into the crimes ends when they are forgotten. However, the CBI must conduct a comprehensive investigation in such cases. The CBI from Haryana needs to look into the situation.
