New Delhi: The matter regarding the transfer of Income Tax Assessment to the Central Circle has now reached the Supreme Court. Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have filed this petition in the apex court challenging the decision of the Delhi High Court. Sonia and Priyanka Gandhi have moved the apex court seeking a stay on the Delhi High Court's decision challenging the upholding of the Income Tax Department's decision to transfer assessment to the central circle.

Let us tell you that, earlier on May 26, the Delhi High Court had dismissed several petitions challenging the decision to transfer its faceless assessment case to the central circle. The bench of Justice DK Sharma and Justice Manmohan of the High Court had said in its decision that the decision to transfer the Income Tax Department to the Central Circle has been taken completely according to the law. The High Court had reserved its judgment on March 15 during the hearing of the case and pronounced the verdict on May 26.

Let us tell you that, the Income Tax Department has searched and recovered the Income Tax of Gandhi family after the investigation of former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Young Indian, Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust, Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Jawahar Bhavan Trust. It was decided to transfer the assessment to the central circle. However, on behalf of the Gandhi family, this decision was called arbitrary and was challenged against it in the Delhi High Court, but the High Court upheld the decision of the Income Tax Department. Now Sonia and Priyanka Gandhi have reached the Supreme Court against this, where they have demanded a stay on the decision of the High Court. So that the income tax assessment of the Gandhi family does not go to the central circle.

What is the matter :-

Let me tell you, this case is of 2018-19 and is related to Arms Dealer Sanjay Bhandari, who is allegedly said to be very special to Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra. However, Robert Vadra has been consistently denying his relationship with Sanjay Bhandari. Let us tell you that Sanjay Bhandari is accused of manipulating the country's defense deals by becoming a middleman and money laundering charges have also been framed against Sanjay Bhandari in India by the CBI-ED. Bhandari was arrested in Britain, at present he is under house arrest, from where efforts are being made to bring him to India, so that it can be ascertained with whom, under whose patronage, he manipulated defense deals.

Along with this, Robert Vadra's alleged associate Sanjay Bhandari is wanted in India under the Privacy Violation Act. Cases of money laundering and tax evasion have also been registered against him, on the basis of which an appeal was made for his extradition. At present he is on bail from the British Court. His extradition is very important to know the relation of Sanjay Bhandari with the bribe of crores in some defense deals of the Congress government. Crores of rupees were sent to his bank account for these deals. Bhandari has also sued French company Thales for non-payment of commission of 90 crores.

Let us tell you that both Bhandari and Robert Vadra are facing cases of tax evasion and money laundering. Robert Vadra has been facing probe for land deals in Gurgaon and a few other cases in Rajasthan since the NDA government came to power in 2014. Later Vadra's name cropped up during the ongoing investigation against Sanjay Bhandari for the purchase of properties in London and Dubai. According to the ED, entities controlled by Bhandari bought the properties. These were later transferred to entities allegedly linked to Vadra. All the cases have been transferred to the Central Circle for a thorough investigation of this matter and to reach the bottom of the matter, against which Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have reached the Supreme Court, they say that we have nothing to do with Sanjay Bhandari.

However, the Delhi High Court has upheld the tax transferring assessment report of the Income Tax authority. That is, now the authority will do a more thorough investigation of the documents, so that the bottom of the matter can be reached. Transactions done in the Central Circle i.e. the real person of the transaction can be brought to the fore. Now it has to be seen whether Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi get relief from the Supreme Court or not?
