New Delhi: Congress veteran Ahmed Patel has died early today. He was counted among the leaders close to Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress. On the death of Ahmed Patel, Sonia Gandhi said that Patel was a comrade, loyal colleague and friend who cannot be replaced. He also said that Patel's entire life was devoted to the Congress.

Sonia has said in a condolence message, "I have lost an associate whose entire life was dedicated to the Congress Party because of Mr Ahmed Patel's departure. His loyalty and dedication, his commitment to his duty, his always ready to help and his decency were some of the qualities that set him apart from others. I lost a comrade, a loyal colleague and friend whom no one can replace. I mourn his death and express my deepest condolences to his family."

The information about the death of Ahmed Patel was given by his son via tweet, his son Faisal Patel wrote, 'It is very sad to say that my father Ahmed Patel passed away on November 25 at 3.30 am. About a month ago he was found corona infected. After this, his condition deteriorated and many body parts stopped functioning. I pray to all well-wishers to follow the Covid-19 protocol and not rush and take care of social distancing. '
