NEW DELHI: Sonia Gandhi, the president of the congress, requested in a letter to the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday that her appearance be put off for a few weeks while she fully recovers from a lung infection and Covid.

On June 23, the Enforcement Directorate had called the Congress president to investigate her on a money-laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.

Since she has been strictly advised to rest at home following her hospitalisation on account of Covid and lung infection, Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has written to ED today asking that her appearance there be postponed by a few weeks until she has fully recovered, as per a tweet from Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh.

Sonia Gandhi was treated for difficulties brought on by the coronavirus and then released on Monday from a private hospital in Delhi. The entire incident has been referred to as a "political vendetta" by Congress, which has accused the Centre of utilising investigative agencies improperly to target opposition figures.
