Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria starrer Student of the Year 2 opened to a good start at the box office. The film got mixed reviews from critics and fans too aren’t going gaga about it. The film has gained Rs 12.06 crore, and capitalised on it the day after with Rs 14.02 crore (Saturday), but it has been on a declining path since. Student of the Year 2 has taken a huge dip by 54.23 per cent on Monday and made just Rs 5.52 crore at the box-office. This takes its total box-office collection to Rs 44.35 crore.
Noted film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office collection of the film. He wrote, “#StudentOfTheYear2 declines 54.23% on Mon [vis-à-vis Fri]... Slows at plexes of Mumbai, Delhi, NCR [where it was performing best]... Fri 12.06 cr, Sat 14.02 cr, Sun 12.75 cr, Mon 5.52 cr. Total: ₹ 44.35 cr. India biz. #SOTY2.” Add to that, two Hollywood films – Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame and Ryan Reynold’s detective Pikachu is also attracting a lot of the movie going audience. While Endgame has already made over Rs 350 crore at the box office and still going strong, Detective Pikachu too has kids and Pokemon fans flooding in theatres.
SOTY 2 is the sequal of the 2012 film Student of the Year, which starred Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra.
