BANGALORE:  India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today, November 11, flag off India's 5th Vande Bharat from Bangalore, making it the first semi-high-speed train in the South. 

Between Mysuru and Chennai, the train will run, reducing travel time. It will make its official debut at the KSR Bangalore station before continuing on to Chennai.

The top features of the new Vande Bharat train are as follows:

From Chennai to Mysore, passengers would pay Rs. 1,200 for a car chair and Rs. 2,295 for executive class; from Mysore to Chennai, they will pay Rs. 1,365 and Rs. 2,486.

The train will make two stops between Chennai and Mysore -- Katpadi and Bangalore, and travel 500 kilometres in 6 hours 30 minutes. Starting on Saturday, regular business will resume.

As per railway officials, "If operated at maximum capacity, the train can reach Chennai from Bangalore in just three hours."

Integral Coach Factory (ICF), a company in Chennai, designed the train and equipped it with a clever brake system for enhanced acceleration and deceleration.

 Automatic doors, a GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system, onboard hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment, and plush seats are features found on every coach.

The first Vande Bharat Express train was officially flagged off on February 15, 2019, on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route.
