In view of Diwali festival The Southern Railway announced some special trains in order to clear the rush during Diwali festival. This year, however, the rush could mean a whole lot of risks considering the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It is in this light that the Southern Railways have now decided to introduce a couple of more trains to ensure the smooth movement of people across cities. Therefore, more than any other year, this year calls for action towards the safety of all.
According to a media report, the special trains that will kick start operations in the next two days and would continue running till December 1 include the Thanjavur - Egmore daily special, Egmore - Tiruchchirappalli daily superfast special and Egmore- Kollam daily special. This comes over and above the KSR Bengaluru - Central AC super fast and two other pairs of superfast daily festival special trains between KSR Bengaluru and Central that have just been introduced the weekend.
As per reports, special trains would run about 39 pairs of services. In addition to the new introductions, the Mysuru - Mayiladuturai superfast daily festival special train will also be introduced, taking the number of trips to and from Mysuru between October 25 and November 30 to a total of 37. Meanwhile, the railways had of late also announced that it would be initiating operations from Bengaluru and other cities in Karnataka to several cities such as Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. All new trains are in due consideration of the festival season.
