Lucknow: On Saturday (August 3), Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Awadhesh Prasad accused the Uttar Pradesh administration of giving a communal angle to its crackdown against gangrape accused SP leader Moeed Khan. Khan has been arrested for sexually exploiting a 12-year-old girl for several months. The administration sealed his illegal property and initiated bulldozer action against it.

Responding to the demolition of Khan’s bakery, Awadhesh Prasad alleged that the drive against Khan’s illegal property was initiated because Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath harbors enmity towards Muslims and Yadavs.

Speaking to the media, Prasad demanded a DNA test in the Ayodhya gangrape case to ensure that no innocent person is framed. He also denied allegations that Moeed Khan was his close aide, stating that he has never allowed criminals near him or taken help from them. Referring to a photograph with Khan, Prasad defended himself by saying that many people take pictures with him.

Prasad described the Ayodhya gangrape case as a very painful and shameful incident, emphasizing that all involved should be investigated and punished if found guilty. While demanding a DNA test and stating that no innocents should be framed, he asserted that the Samajwadi Party stands with the victim and will not support criminals. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politicizing the incident.

Regarding the photograph with Moeed Khan, Prasad said, “I have never allowed anyone with even the slightest connection to crime to come near me. I have never taken any kind of help from them. As far as the photo (with the accused) is concerned, many people take pictures and selfies with us.”

He reiterated his belief that the demolition drive was driven by communal bias, alleging that Yogi Adityanath's longstanding ideology includes enmity towards Muslims and Yadavs. Prasad concluded by saying, “The Chief Minister's ideology is very old, and we cannot tell what enmity he has with Muslims and Yadavs. The Samajwadi Party has always fought against injustice. The BJP should not politicize such a horrific, shameful incident.”
