As the festive season winds down,  the Indian Railways has launched a special Vande Bharat Express train operating between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway stations in West Bengal. Administered by the Eastern Railway (ER) zone, this service will remain operational until November 29, 2023.

This initiative marks the operation of three Vande Bharat Express Special trains by the Indian Railways during the festive period, including routes such as Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore, New Delhi-Patna Junction-New Delhi, and Howrah-New Jalpaiguri-Howrah.

Increased Seating Capacity for Commuters
The Eastern Railway zone has expanded the seating capacity by 6,768 seats with the introduction of the special Vande Bharat Express service between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri, benefiting those traveling during the festival season.

Travel Duration and Distance Covered by the Special Train
The Howrah-New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express Special train, identified by train number 02301/02302, spans a distance of 561 kilometers in just seven hours and 30 minutes. Notably, this train is the quickest on this route, surpassing the Shatabdi Express (which takes 8 hours and 30 minutes) and the Saraighat Express (which takes 9 hours) for the same distance.

Composition and Schedule of the Special Vande Bharat Express
Operating with a set of 16 coaches, including Chair Car and Executive Class coaches, the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express Special is available for passengers once a week, specifically on Wednesdays.

Throughout its journey, passengers can embark or disembark at three railway stations: Malda Town, Bolpur Shantiniketan, and Barsoi Junction.
