Ahmedabad: A massive road accident occurred near Nadiad on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway in Gujarat. In this, 10 people lost their lives on the spot. At the same time, the condition of one person is said to be critical. The accident occurred when a speeding car coming from behind the oil tanker rammed into it. The car was going from Vadodara to Ahmedabad.

Police said that all 10 people in the car lost their lives. Out of which 8 people died on the spot after the accident, while two people died on the way to the hospital. Passersby informed about the accident on number 108. As soon as the news was received, two ambulance vehicles reached the spot.  

Along with this, Express Highway Patrol team also reached the spot for relief and rescue operations. Police have said that the accident was so severe that the sheet had to be cut to take out the bodies trapped in the car. Due to the accident, there was a lot of jam on the expressway. The police somehow got the car to the side and cleared the jam.

Information has been received that the deceased have not been identified yet. After the police conducted Panchnama of the dead bodies, they were sent for post-mortem. Along with this, efforts are being made to identify the deceased on the basis of the registration number of the car. We are investigating how the car entered behind the moving tanker. 

Police has informed that due to Ram Navami there was not much rush of vehicles on the expressway. In such a situation, action will be taken whether the brakes of the car had failed or the tanker moving ahead suddenly applied brakes, due to which the speeding car rammed into it from behind. Let us tell you that vehicles move at an average speed of 100 km per hour on the expressway.
