SpiceJet completes its 18th anniversary, Announces cheaper airfares

India's leading carrier SpiceJet has announced cheaper airfares as the airline completes its 18th anniversary. The first flight operated by SpiceJet took place on May 23, 2005. The inaugural SpiceJet flight operated between Delhi and Ahmedabad. The airline has announced starting ticket prices at Rs. 1,818 as it marks its 18th anniversary. 
The airline with its headquarters in Gurugram has announced a special offer for domestic one-way fares starting at little Rs. 1,818. The promotion is applicable on routes such as Mumabi-Goa and Bengaluru-Goa. From May 23 to May 28, passengers can take advantage of the sale. According to a report by Zed News, passengers can book flights as part of the promotion from 1 July to 30 March 2024.

The airline also offers complimentary vouchers worth up to Rs. 3,000 to travellers who will be 18 in 2023 or already are. Under this promotion, travellers can reserve their preferred seats at a flat rate of Rs. 18 and save 50% on SpiceMax's roomy economy-class seating.

One of the biggest regional players in the nation, SpiceJet is an IATA-IOSA certified airline that operates a fleet of Boeing 737s and Q-400s. It performs many daily flights under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, also known as UDAN. SpiceMax is available on the majority of the airline's aircraft.

SpiceJet also announced the appointment of Arun Kashyap as its chief operating officer with effect from June 12. Kashyap, an acclaimed industry veteran with 25 years of expertise, moves from his position as chief technical officer at Air India to SpiceJet.  This is his second stint at SpiceJet, having alrealdy served as chief program and transformation officer at the airline.  Notably, he has previously also worked with flydubai, Jet Airways and Oman Air.
