NEW DELHI: During the landing of a SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Kochi on Tuesday morning, an incident occurred where one of the tires burst. Fortunately, the flight crew successfully managed to land the aircraft safely at Kochi airport without any casualties. An airline spokesperson confirmed the safe landing despite the unexpected tire burst.

Upon conducting a routine surveillance procedure, it was discovered that the second tire had experienced the burst. It is important to note that SpiceJet has faced a higher number of flight disruptions compared to other airlines in the country. According to DGCA records, a Bloomberg report stated that in May, only 61 percent of the airline's flights departed on time from the major airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

In contrast, Akasa Air, a newly-launched airline, has gained recognition for its exceptional punctuality, ranking at the top when it comes to on-time departures.
