Sports Minister Rijiju has made preparations to make India a sports superpower by making football the mainstay. While referring to the government's plan on this, he said that five regional committees are about to be formed to find talent across the country. Rijiju said that the Indian Sports Authority (SAI) in partnership with AIFF is going to fund this talent hunt scheme under the 'Khelo India' program. At the same time, it can be one of the 'most aggressive actions' of that time. For which committees are going to be formed in the next few months.

In an online event organized by 'Football Delhi' to commemorate the 36th birthday of Indian captain Sunil Chhetri, Rijiju said that - We will form 5 talent search committees in the next few months under SAI's Khelo India program in partnership with AIFF Are the ones. In which there can be one committee of North, South, East, West and Northeast region.

After which he also said that with the goal of qualifying for the World Cup and Olympics of the Indian team in the next 10-15 years, a talent search program can be envisioned. Rijiju said- If we want to qualify for the Olympics and World Cup in 10-15 years, then we have to start with children below 12 years. I believe we can do this.

After which he said, " We will choose those people who know how to play football like former players. Of course AIFF will guide us in this. This government effort will be different from those schemes which are already being run by AIFF." The Sports Minister said that the ministry was also considering providing financial assistance to the state governments and the federation so that local leagues could be organized to find talent at the grassroots level like panchayats and municipalities.
