Sreelekha Mitra is one of the famous actresses of the Bengali film industry. She is famous for her brilliant acting and great roles in films like Hothat Brishti, Kantatar, Swade Ahlade, Choukath, Aschorjo Prodip and Rainbow Jelly. The actress is now going to make her directorial debut. Recently, she has started shooting for her directorial debut film titled Bitter Half from Sunday.

The upcoming film will feature actors like Bharat Kaul and Chandri Mukherjee in important roles along with Sreelekha. The cinematography is going to be done by Joydeep Bose. While talking about her debut in direction, the actress said, "The story of this film is about a couple. It is basically a love triangle and I have taken the inspiration from O Henry’s The Gift of the Magi. The film 'Bitter Half' shows how most emotions are about showing off on social media in today’s world. The film shows how unknowingly the better half turns into a bitter half.”

Talking about the difficulty in doing acting and direction at the same time, the actress said that it is not the only direction and acting. I am also doing the art direction and costumes work in this film. Most stuff are from my house on the sets and I’m loving it.
