Colombo: A series of coordinated bombings on Easter Sunday has rocked churches and hotels in Sri Lanka.The death toll from a string of deadly suicide bomb attacks has risen to 310, with several people dying of their injuries overnight, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
Around 500 people were wounded in the blasts, Ruwan Gunasekera said in a statement.
Ruwan Gunasekera further added that 40 people were now under arrest in connection with the attacks, which Sri Lanka's government has blamed on a previously little-known local Islamist group, National Thowheeth Jama'ath.

Accordinf to the reoorts, the blasts targeted four hotels - including the Shangri-La, Kingsbury and the Cinnamon Grand in the capital Colombo - as well as three churches. Nearly all victims were Sri Lankan. Dozens of foreigners were also killed.

There were no claims of responsibility for the attacks but the cabinet spokesperson and health minister Rajitha Senaratne blamed the bombings on National Thowheeth Jama'ath, a little-known Muslim organisation.
