Sri Lanka's wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella has been indefinitely suspended following an alleged doping violation. The national governing body, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), confirmed the suspension, which stems from a failed doping test conducted by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines during the Lanka Premier League.

In a statement issued on Friday, Sri Lanka Cricket announced that the suspension would be enforced immediately and remain in place until further notice.

Dickwella, who currently serves as the captain of the Galle Marvels in the Lanka Premier League, has been a crucial player for Sri Lanka in all formats of the game. His most recent appearance for the national team was during a Test series against New Zealand in Christchurch in March of last year.

This is not the first time Dickwella has faced disciplinary action. In June 2021, he, along with Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka, was suspended for one year after violating the team's COVID-19 bio-secure bubble during Sri Lanka's tour of England.

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella has been handed an indefinite suspension following an alleged doping violation during the Lanka Premier League. This immediate suspension was imposed by Sri Lanka Cricket after Dickwella failed a doping test conducted by the national anti-doping agency. As captain of the Galle Marvels, this is a significant blow to the team and Dickwella’s career. Notably, this isn’t his first suspension – in 2021, he was sidelined for breaching COVID-19 protocols during Sri Lanka’s tour of England. The 31-year-old's last appearance for Sri Lanka was in March 2021.
