New Delhi: Sri Lanka’s well known All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga turns 26 today. Hasaranga is a well-known Leg-Spinner who had also played Royal Challengers Banglore.

Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga, also known as Wanindu Hasaranga, is an international cricket player who competes for the Sri Lanka cricket team in white ball cricket. He was born on July 29, 1997.

Hasaranga, widely regarded as one of the best bowlers in white-ball cricket, made his debut for Sri Lanka in July 2017. Chaturanga de Silva, his older brother, has also competed for his country.During the 2021 T20 World Cup, Hasaranga made history by scoring the first hat-trick for Sri Lanka in a T20 World Cup and becoming the first Sri Lankan to score a hat-trick on their ODI debut.

At the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga signed with Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 10.75 crore. The young player, who claimed a hat trick in the recently finished 2021 T20 World Cup, received full support from RCB. When India toured Sri Lanka in July 2021 for a limited-overs series, the 26-year-old all-rounder made an impression, particularly with the ball.

Wanindu Hasaranga has participated in 26 IPL games so far, scoring 72 runs at an average of 7.20 runs per game. 18 runs were his highest IPL total. In his IPL career, Wanindu Hasaranga has hit seven fours and one six.

In the ICC rankings for T20I bowlers at the conclusion of that series, Hasaranga was ranked second. In IPL 2021, Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan all-rounder, took Adam Zampa's place. Wanindu, a member of Sri Lanka's U-19 team, was immediately selected for the senior men's team. Wanindu is a powerful middle-order batsman who is also effective with his leggies.

 

Cricket Journey of Hasaranga:

On November 30, 2015, Hasaranga made his List A debut in the AIA Premier Limited Over Tournament. He was included in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2015.In addition to his match-winning bowling performance of 3/34 against England in the tournament's quarterfinal, which helped Sri Lanka advance to the semi-final stage, he claimed seven wickets at the 2016 U19 World Cup.

On February 26, 2016, he made his first-class debut for the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club during the Premier League competition for the 2015–16 season

At Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards ceremony in November 2017, Hasaranga was named the most promising player in domestic cricket for the 2016–17 season.He rose to prominence for his all-around efforts during the 2016–17 domestic FC season, taking 15 wickets, including a five-wicket haul, and scoring 586 runs, including a century, at an average of just under 40 with a strike rate of 93.

On November 11, 2017, he played his first Twenty20 match for Sylhet Sixers in the 2017–18 Bangladesh Premier League.

Hasaranga was included in Colombo's squad for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament in March 2018. He was also included in Colombo's roster for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament the following month. He was included in Dambulla's roster for the 2018 SLC T20 League in August of that year.

With 765 runs in nine games, Hasaranga led the Colombo Cricket Club in run production during the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament. He was included in Galle's lineup for the Super Provincial One Day Tournament in March 2019. He was chosen by the Jaffna Stallions in the first round of the Lanka Premier League in October 2020.After claiming 17 wickets, he was named the tournament's top player.

Hasaranga was a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team that traveled to the UAE in August 2021 for the second stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On September 20, 2021, against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he made his IPL debut. After the players' draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League, he was chosen to play for the Jaffna Kings in November 2021.

Hasaranga was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2022 IPL Auction.He was acquired by the Manchester Originals in April 2022 for the upcoming English season of The Hundred. He was acquired by the Kandy Falcons in July 2022 for the third Lanka Premier League season. Hasaranga joined Quetta Gladiators for the PSL 8 in 2022.

Hasaranga joined the Desert Vipers in the T20 International League in 2022. He played for the Desert Vipers in 2023, and with 9 wickets taken, he finished third in wickets taken.

Hasaranga was signed by the Washington Freedom in 2023, and he will play Major League Cricket in the United States.
