There are many such stories related to Shri Ram which all of you must have heard and read. Today we are going to tell you a story related to them. This story is about when it became difficult for Shri Ram to punish a brother like Lakshman. According to religious stories, the last words to punish Lakshman were also the words of Shri Ram. In fact, once in the court of Lord Rama, Yamraj himself arrived as a monk. He urged Lord Shri Ram that he wanted to sit in conversation with him in solitude, respecting his desire, Shri Ram promised him that as long as the conversation between me and you, if anyone came between us then I will give him the death penalty.

He summoned Lakshman ji to his room and after telling everyone, appointed him as the gatekeeper and told him that until when he and Yama are talking, they should not let anyone come in, otherwise they will have to pay the death penalty. Lakshman stood as a gatekeeper by obeying his brother. Meanwhile, in the palace of Ayodhya, suddenly the sage Durwasa  came and he started asking Lakshman to meet Shri Ram immediately. During that time, even after Lakshman ji told that Lord Rama is still having a special conversation with someone, he cannot meet immediately. You take two minutes to rest, then I will pass your information to them, the sage did not agree, and in anger started saying that he will consume the whole of Ayodhya. What was then, Lakshman ji did not care for his life to save his Ayodhya city and went to Yama and Lord Shri Ram.

During that time he informed Lord Sri Ram about the arrival of sage Durvasa, after which Shri Ram immediately ended his conversation with Yama and paid obeisance to sage Durvasa. But now he is in a dilemma that he will have to pay death penalty to Lakshman as per his promise. He could not understand how to give the death penalty to his brother, but he had promised to Yama. It is said that at that time he remembered his guru Rishi Vasistha and asked him to show some way. Then Guru Dev told him that the sacrifice of a loved one is the same as his death. Therefore, you should abandon Lakshman to obey your word. By obeying his command, Lord Shri Ram gave up his brother to fulfil his promise. After which Lakshman Ji ended his life by taking JalSamadhi.
