Islamabad: Sri Lanka has given a big blow to Pakistan for the sake of India. Pakistan PM Imran Khan was scheduled to address Parliament during his visit to Sri Lanka, which has now been repealed. The Pakistani media is showing the Sri Lankan government's move to maintain good relations with India.

The 'Colombo Gadget' website reported on Wednesday that a high parliament official, Narendra Fernando, said that he has informed the parliament that Pakistan PM Imran's visit to Sri Lanka will be as per schedule, but his proposed visit to the Parliament House complex will not take place. Imran is coming to Sri Lanka on a two-day state tour on 22 February. He is the first Head of State to visit the country since the onset of the Corona epidemic.

During his visit, Imran will hold talks with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, PM Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardana. According to Sri Lankan daily 'Express', Foreign Secretary Jayant Colombage has said that Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abyavardhana had requested to cancel Khan's address regarding the coronavirus. The Dawn newspaper quoted reports in the Sri Lankan media that there were elements within the Sri Lankan government who did not want Imran to address the Parliament. According to the report, he feared that doing so could spoil relations with India as there was already tension in the relationship after the agreement on the 'East Container Terminal' at Colombo Port was cancelled.
