New Delhi: Team India has suffered a second consecutive defeat in the Super-four stage of the Asia Cup 2022. Sri Lanka defeated Team India by six wickets in the match played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. India had set a target of 174 runs in front of Sri Lanka, which they achieved with one ball remaining.
Batting first after losing the toss, India did not have a good start and they soon lost their two wickets. After this, Rohit took over India with a partnership of 97 runs for the third wicket with Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit Sharma scored 72 runs in 41 balls, which included five fours and four high-rise sixes. Suryakumar Yadav also scored 34 runs in 29 balls. Thanks to the excellent innings of both, India could reach 173 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Pathum Nisanka (52 runs) and Kusal Mendis (57 runs) shared a 97-run partnership to give Sri Lanka a solid start. However, after that the Sri Lankan team lost wickets at regular intervals, taking their score to 110 for 4 wickets. In such a situation, it seemed that Team India would be able to win the match, but the brilliant batting of Dasun Shanaka and Rajapaksa snatched the match from India. Dasun Shanaka was not out on 33 and Bhanuka Rajapakse scored 25 runs.
