Sri LankanTourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga told reporters on Monday that Russia and Ukraine were among the top ten nations with the largest number of visitor arrivals to Sri Lanka in recent years. According to the Ministry of Tourism, 24,320 tourists flock in the nation recently, with 250 of them tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the Ministry, 150 of the 250 people have returned to their home countries after recovering, while 100 are presently getting treatment on the island country. Direct flights between Sri Lanka and Russia will begin on November 4, according to officials.

The Tourism Ministry stated that efforts will be made in the future to have similar conversations with major airlines throughout the world in order to promote Sri Lanka as an attractive tourist destination.

Sri Lanka's tourist industry, which is one of the country's top foreign exchange earners, has been hit badly by the epidemic, and the government is now searching for methods to resuscitate it. In Sri Lanka, the tourist industry employs an estimated 4 million people directly and indirectly.
