Srinagar has shaken by 5.6 Richter scale earthquake

Srinagar: on Tuesday, An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said that  Tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR as well as in Pakistan's Islamabad,. The earthquake activity, which took place at around 10:20 pm on Tuesday, reportedly lasted for around 40 seconds.

According to a source report, the centre point of the quake was situated at a depth of 40 km in northwestern Kashmir, around 118 kilometres from Srinagar. The quake, which lasted several seconds, caused people with terror and rush out of their homes. Reports informed that, So far, there have been no reports of any casualties or damages due to the quake. As per European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake was potentially felt by 150 million inhabitants.

Meanwhile, mild tremors were also felt in several areas of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, Samaa TV reported. Areas such as Islamabad, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Haripur, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gilgit were jolted by mild tremors, the report said. No loss of life or damage to property was reported from Pakistan so far.
