Kiyv: Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, has explained why the company decided to limit the Ukrainian military's access to its Starlink internet system. He stated that he does not want to see the conflict turn into World War III.

A part of Musk's response to astronaut Scott Kelly, a vocal supporter of the Ukrainian cause, included the justification. Kelly pushed for the system's complete functionality to be restored.

The ban on Starlink use by the Ukrainian military, which SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell called "weaponization" of the product, was announced last week.

Kelly was "smart enough not to swallow media & other propaganda bs," according to Musk, who also noted that Starlink continued to be used for military communications in Ukraine despite SpaceX having the legal right to turn the terminals off as a private company.

Musk said, "We're making a lot of effort to do the right thing, where the 'right thing' is an incredibly difficult moral question.
