New Delhi: Recently, Delhi government has increased the process of work to fast forward the scheme to generate electricity by installing solar panels in the fields. From February to March, electricity production can start in Delhi's fields. The scheme is being worked on rapidly in the southwest Delhi and northwest Delhi districts of Delhi. Delhi government is preparing to issue tenders for fixing the rate for generating electricity by putting solar panels in the fields of farmers. To get into the scheme, farmers have to apply to the local deputy commissioner of the revenue department.

Delhi cabinet gave approval: According to the information, the Delhi cabinet had approved the Chief Minister's Farmer Income Augmentation Scheme on July 18. This is the only scheme of its kind in the entire country. A senior official said that with the help of this, the income of farmers of Delhi will be 3 times more. It is a part of the Green Budget of the Delhi Government. Under this, solar panels are to be installed at a certain height on arable land. Private companies will do the work of installing the panel. The company will make a 25-year agreement. Every year 13 lakh units of electricity will be generated on 6 acres of land. One megawatt of electricity is expected to be generated daily on 6 acres of land. Solar panels are cleaned with water every 15 days. This will also help farmers in irrigation of fields.

What is the scheme:
- Farmers will get one lakh rupees per acre within a year.
- It will increase by 6 % every year.
- In 2025 it will reach at the rate of four lakh rupees per acre.
- Currently, farmers earn 20-30 thousand from one acre.
- Farmers will get 1000 units of free electricity on every acre in a year.
- 6 acres of land will be needed to set up a one MW solar plant.
- Solar panels to be installed at a minimum height of 3.5 meters.
- There will be no problem in running agricultural equipment like tractors etc.
- Private companies will put up panel on PPP model.
-Delhi government will buy electricity
- Electricity will be available for Rs 4-5 per unit instead of the current Rs 9 per unit.
- Delhi government will save 400-500 crore rupees.
