In the Ambedkar Nagar area, the stepfather beat a 5-year-old innocent to death. The child's only fault was that instead of studying, he went to his grandfather's house, from where he returned late. Ambedkar Nagar police have registered a case of murder and taken the accused stepfather into custody.

South district DCP Benita Mary Jeker said the 5-year-old lived in the Dakshinpuri area with his stepfather Gulsher. Other members of the family were also staying together. Gulsher works as a laborer who is originally from Bijnor (UP). According to police officials, Gulsher on Sunday asked the son-in-year-old to study. But instead of studying, the child has gone to his grandfather's house. He has been delayed in returning from there. This angered Gulsher and he started beating the child mercilessly.

The child fainted from the beating. The family took the child to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital. The doctor at the hospital declared the child dead. This has been reported to Ambedkar Nagar police station. Police have seized the body and placed it in the AIIMS mortuary for postmortem. Police have registered a case of murder and detained the accused stepfather Gulsher.
