Chhattisgarh: On Tuesday, authorities said a squad of armed Naxals killed a villager and injured another in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-plagued Sukma district.  According to Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma, the event occurred on Monday night in Kongdem village, which is located around 400 kilometres from the state capital Raipur, and is under the jurisdiction of the Errabore police station.

According to the official, the rebels may have slain the individual in retaliation for a recent incident in which a cadre was killed and an unlawful movement militia commander was detained. He claimed that a group of 10 to 15 ultras armed with traditional weapons and firearms arrived in Kongdem hamlet and axed to death a local named Darre Naveen.

Another villager was also attacked by the insurgents, but he managed to escape and report the incident to the authorities. According to the official, a police squad was dispatched to the area and the injured man was brought to a hospital.
