Istanbul: The death toll from a violent southwest wind storm in Turkey's largest city, Istanbul, has risen to four, according to a statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office. Because of the bad weather, at least 19 residents were injured, three of whom were in critical condition, and one of the deaths was a foreign national, according to the statement.

According to previous accounts, at least two individuals were died when they became trapped under shattered roofs in the Esenyurt area on the city's European side. According to the report, vehicles were damaged, trucks on the highway overturned, and a clock tower toppled as a result of the powerful storm blowing at 130 km/h in some parts of the city.

The Istanbul Municipality said its teams received 33 notifications of shattered roofs and 192 notices of falling trees. All ferry services were cancelled, and numerous planes were diverted to other cities. A Liberian-flagged cargo ship that was drifting due to strong winds collided with the pier in Ambarli Harbor in the European district of Avcilar. Under the high wind, motorcycle riders had difficulty passing via the bridges spanning the Bosphorus Strait.
