London: In response to Broad's remarks about Alex Carey, an ex-Indian cricketer attacked him by bringing up the six sixes he gave India's Yuvraj in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

On Day 5 of the second Ashes Test at Lord's, Alex Carey stumped Jonny Bairstow for leaving his crease believing it to be the end of an over, raising the drama, tension, and heat between England and Australia by several notches. As the Australian cricketers were treated harshly by the patrons at the Long Room during the lunch break, the tension among the supporters overflowed.

Ben Stokes, the captain of England, and England's head coach Brendon McCullum made little effort to hide their anger over the removal of Jonny Bairstow by criticizing Australia's "spirit of cricket."

On the final day of the Lord's Test, legendary pacer Stuart Broad was batting when he was heard saying to Carey, "That is all you will ever be remembered for," over the stump microphone.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, a well-known analyst and former Indian spinner, responded to Broad's remark in his own way.

By bringing up the six sixes he gave India's Yuvraj Singh in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Sivaramakrishnan poked fun at Broad. “Stuart Broad will be remembered for getting hit for six sixes in an over by Yuvraj Singh.”

Recently, Broad has been the target of social media outrage, with followers quick to remind him of the time he refused to walk after edging a ball during the 2013 Ashes series. He still stands by that choice now, as it helped England win a close game at the time. Many Australian cricket players and media figures have called out his "hypocrisy."

For Indians, Broad's remark has humorous appeal because he was the victim of Yuvraj Singh's famed explosion during a 2007 T20 World Cup match in Durban, hitting him for six sixes after being yelled at by Andrew Flintoff. Yuvraj's onslaught, which saw India move closer to winning the first World Cup trophy, was a pivotal point in the competition. He struck the fastest T20I half-century.

15 years later, Broad would bowl another famous over to Jasprit Bumrah, who hoisted and edged his way to scoring 35 off one over at the Edgbaston Test in 2022, breaking the previous record of 28 runs allowed in one over of a Test match.

When the Ashes rivals head to Headingley in Leeds for the third Test match, it will be interesting to see how the English react after a terrible wicket they received. England needs to win each of the final three Test matches to reclaim the Ashes urn from the Australians.
