New Delhi: According to a new study, animals are also susceptible to coronavirus infection after humans. The study analyzed ten different species of sensitivity to the virus. According to the study, the greater risk of being infected with coronavirus after humans have been seen in animals such as cats, musk tomcats and dogs.
Published in the journal PLOS Computational Biology, found that the risk of being infected with the coronavirus of ducks, mice, pigs and chickens as compared to humans was low or not, while cats, civet and dogs saw the highest risk of SARS-COV-2 infection. Louise Serrano, co-author of the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona, Spain, said that the researchers found cats to be very sensitive to coronavirus infection.
He said that human beings as well as cats were not found to have the same conditions as in other animals. He also explained why there are no confirmed cases of people being infected by their pets. In research, scientists used computer modelling to test how the coronavirus uses its spike protein, which is transmitted from the surface of the virus to penetrate into the cells of various animals.
