Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai has launched the careers of many actors in Bollywood. His films have often introduced new faces to the industry, and several of them have gone on to become stars. Ghai has launched the careers of actors like Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Reena Roy, and Manisha Koirala, among others. His film "Khalnayak" is a notable example, which not only launched Sanjay Dutt's career but also established him as a star.

However, few people know that Anil Kapoor was initially considered for the role of Ballu in "Khalnayak". In fact, Kapoor was so keen on playing the role that he was willing to shave his head for it. This revelation was made by Subhash Ghai himself in a recent interview. Ghai stated that many big actors had approached him for the role, but he had made up his mind to cast someone who would be perfect for the part.

Ghai revealed that Anil Kapoor was willing to go bald for the role of Ballu, but he ultimately decided to cast Sanjay Dutt instead. Ghai praised Dutt's daring look and said that he was the best fit for the role. During the shooting of "Khalnayak", Dutt would often ask Ghai to perform the scenes first and then follow his footsteps. Ghai would tell Dutt to observe his actions carefully and then copy them.

"Khalnayak" was released in 1993 and starred Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Rakhi Gulzar, and Ramya Krishnan in key roles. The film was a massive hit at the box office and cemented Dutt's position as a leading actor in Bollywood. Ghai's decision to cast Dutt in the film proved to be a masterstroke, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In the interview, Ghai also praised Dutt's dedication and hard work, saying that he would often rehearse his scenes multiple times to get them perfect. Ghai's revelation about Anil Kapoor's willingness to play the role of Ballu has thrown new light on the making of "Khalnayak", and it is clear that the film's success was a result of Ghai's vision and the hard work of its cast and crew.
