Patna: Makhana is cultivated on a large scale in Bihar. Continuous efforts are being made by the state government to increase its yield. The Bihar government has come up with a strategy for makhana cultivators. Under this scheme, farmers cultivating it are being given a subsidy of up to 75 per cent.

The Bihar government is giving the benefit of a subsidy of up to 75 per cent to farmers using high species of makhana seeds under the makhana development scheme. According to the news received, the cost of cultivating these seeds is 97 thousand per hectare. On which a subsidy of Rs 72,750 per hectare can be obtained. For this, farmers will have to apply.

If the farmers who cultivate makhana want to get the benefits under the Makhana Development Scheme, then they will have to apply for this by visiting the portal of the Horticulture Department. According to the news received from the Directorate of Gardens, the application process is starting from September 5. Farmers can apply till September 20. At the same time, a subsidy is being given by the government to set up the makhana processing industry. According to the guidelines issued by the government, up to 15 per cent of capital will be given to individual investors and up to 25 per cent to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs / FPCs).
