KHARTOUM: According to Sudan TV, General Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has signed a constitutional proclamation establishing a temporary Sovereign Council led by himself. Al-Burhan was named Chairman of the Sovereign Council, and General Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu was named Deputy Chairman, according to the order.

General Sham-Eddin Kabashir, Gen. Yair Al-Atta, Gen. Ibrahim Jaber, Malik Agar, Al-Tahir Hajar, Al-Hadi Idris, Raja Nicola, Yousif Jad Kareem, Abul-Gasim Mohamed Ahmed, Abdul-Baqui Abdul-Ghader, and Salma Abdul-Jabbar Musa were among the 11 members of the Sovereign Council titled According to sources, the decision postponed the appointment of an eastern Sudan delegate to the Sovereign Council until related deliberations are finished.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Professionals Association, one of the popular organisations driving the street protests, has expressed opposition to the sovereign council's appointment. "This is a law that is unconstitutional. The Army Commander has no authority to take this action, and we will reject it peacefully "In a statement, the Association said. Sudan has been mired in political turmoil since Al-Burhan proclaimed a state of emergency and dissolved the Sovereign Council and cabinet on October 25.
