Sudev Nair has been very active on social media, literally. Since the lockdown started, the One actor seems to have upped his fitness routine and over the past few months, he has shown how he started trying the backflip and is quite the expert now, doing as many as eight at one go.
“I train like a proper athlete for up to seven hours a day,” shares Sudev. And while he was a national level athlete at school, what the actor has achieved in terms of fitness is inspiring. Because for years, Sudev suffered a bad back from a slipped disc, so-much-so that when he was a student at FTII, he attended classes lying down on the last bench. To get from that condition to now during stunts for movies is no small achievement.
“I do a lot of flips for upcoming historial Pathonpatham Noottandu. And I am hoping that I will be able to utilise my training for action scenes, without using cables and it will also look more elegant,” says the actor, who looks striking with his six-pack in the shirtless get-up for the historical.
“Even if you have been injured, it’s easy to get back if you used to be fit. But I don’t take it for granted anymore and while I have been upping my skills, I do proper warm up and make sure my body’s foundation is intact. And my motivation is that, if I am not consistent, the alternative is worse,” says Sudev, who apart from Kannada films Old Monk and 21 Hours, also plays a central character in Amal Neerad’s much-anticipated Bheeshma Parvam.
The actor, who had written 2016 comedy web series Not Fit, also shows off his funny bone on social media, with things like, “News of the day: Cream biscuits can be a healthy option for those suffering from delusion, reveals new study”. “I have always been cocky,” he says, laughing, “but no serious movie writing. I am focused on acting for now.”
