Amritsar: On Sunday afternoon, the family of Hindu leader Sudhir Suri decided to cremate the body. But later it was announced to be done at 10.30 am. The Hindu leader's son and brother along with other family members were preparing to take the body from Tilak Nagar near the Shivala temple gate to the Shri Durgiana temple. Due to this, he received the news that the police had put Hindu leaders under house arrest in their homes.

Suri's family was furious and refused to perform the last rites until the police reached near them with the Hindu leaders under house arrest. However, police officials are refusing the family and asking them to perform the last rites. Earlier on Saturday evening, the district administration accepted the demands of the family. If the connection is found, where Amritpal Singh's name will be included in the FIR, the confidence of security has also been given to the victim's family.

Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh Sudan and Police Commissioner Arunpal Singh had reached Sudhir Suri's residence late in the evening to convince family members and Hindu organisations to cremate the body. After accepting the demands, the family decided to cremate the body on Sunday morning. Earlier, the victim's family, along with activists of Hindu organisations, blocked the railway track near Shivala Phatak and demanded that the Punjab government take action against everyone involved in the murder. After the Sudhir Suri murder case, at the time of the post-mortem on Saturday afternoon, the victim's family had refused to cremate the body until the administration accepted their demand. On reaching Suri's residence, DC Sudan and Police Commissioner Arunpal Singh assured the victim's family that one member of the family would be given a government job. Apart from this, the name of Amritpal Singh of Virsa Punjab Da will be included in the FIR in the next one or two days.
