PESHAWAR: At least 13 people, including Awami National Party (ANP) head Haroon Bilour, were killed and almost 50 others wounded in a suicide blast at a poll rally in Pakistan's northwestern Peshawar city.
The blast happened soon before midnight when Bilour along with ANP functionaries gathered for a corner talks in the packed full Yakatoot area.
Worth mention here Thirteen people were killed and 47 others were wounded in the blast, confirmed Medical staff at the Lady Reading Hospital, where the victims were taken.
On a related note City police Head Qazi Jameel stated Bilour, the ANP nominee from PK 78 constituency in Peshawar city, was among those killed in this massive blast.
According to zee News, Fireworks were being burst as Bilour reached on the stage when the suicide bomber blew him up. Bilour suffered severe injuries and was moved to a hospital where he died from the wounds, reports stated.
Bomb disposal Team Leader Shafqat Malik informed that eight kilos of TNT explosive was used in the blast.
Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies have arrived the site of the blast and probes into the incident are now underway.
It is noted that this is the second terrorist attack on a poll rally in Pakistan ahead of the July 25 general election.
Earlier this month, seven people including a nominee of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, a public rally of religious parties were wounded in an explosion during an election gathering near Takhtikhel also in the KPK region.
