KABUL: A major terrorist attack has been reported in Afghanistan on Wednesday morning. A roadside bomb exploded on the Herat-Kandahar highway on Wednesday morning. About 34 people, including women and children, have been killed in the terror attack. Those injured in the blast have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area following the attack and the investigation into the attack is underway. However, the details of how the terror attack was carried out are yet to be ascertained.

Dozens of pilgrims have been killed in the bomb blast in western Afghanistan, mainly women, and children. The attack comes three days after three children and another 23 people were killed in a fidayeen attack at a busy market in Kandahar province. This is the second major blast in Afghanistan in the past week. Earlier on Thursday, 10 people were killed in three blasts in Kabul, killing five women and a child.

Sunday's blast came just a day after the fidayeen attack in Ghazni, Afghanistan. The fidayeen attacker detonated his explosives-filled vehicle. The blast is said to have taken place near an Afghan army base in Abby Bandh province in the morning. The casualties are yet to be confirmed. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming that the attack has killed a large number of people and damaged the base.
