USA: Google just unveiled Bard, its response to ChatGPT. The company had hoped for better results, but that hasn't happened. Google's readiness for Bard has been questioned in light of a half-baked AI event and a demo that cost the company $100 billion in valuation.

According to CNBC, many Google employees are now criticizing and questioning how the company launched its chatbot.

Google was hesitant to release its AI tool before being confident in it. But the popularity of OpenAI's ChatGPT compelled the business to act. Google was more concerned about Microsoft's interest in the chatbot than ChatGPT's success.

The tech juggernaut consequently launched Bard. What was supposed to be the ChatGPT response has now generated a lot of queries.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed some information about Bard a day before Microsoft unveiled a new Bing powered by ChatGPT. This meant that during the company's AI event in Paris, people anticipated hearing more. The event, however, screamed "unpreparedness" from every angle.

It was said that some workers were completely unaware of the incident. Even worse, one of the presenters neglected to bring their phone for the demonstration.

A factual error in a Bard demo that Google published on February 7 was brought to light by Reuters. A query about the James Webb Space Telescope received an incorrect response from the chatbot. As a result, Bard and Google became the targets of widespread ridicule. Additionally, it caused the market to stop believing in Google, which reduced its valuation by $100 billion. Employees at Google criticized the terrible demo.

Many Google employees are reportedly calling the Bard launch "rushed" and "botched" on the company's internal message boards, according to CNBC. Pichai and the management of Google are the targets of numerous memes.

"Dear Sundar, the Bard launch and the layoffs were rushed, botched, and myopic," one user wrote in a meme that received a lot of upvotes and featured a serious photo of Pichai.

One worker made fun of Google's management team using the company's new performance review system. They wrote, referring to the lowest category in the performance review system, "Sundar, and leadership, deserve a Perf NI."

In their quest for "sharpening focus," they are acting in an unGooglely and hilariously short-sighted manner. This was directed at Pichai's last year's call for employees to be more focused.

Concerns about Google's AI's potential to compete with OpenAI's chatbot have existed since the launch of ChatGPT. One employee claimed that rushing Bard to market in a panic "validated the market's fear about us."

Google's leadership discussed the potential negative effects of rushing the far from perfect AI-chat technology during an all-hands meeting in December of last year.
