According to the information received, Suniel is being given this award because of his contribution towards relief efforts in Covid 19. The award was given to him by the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan.
Suniel helped women, animal welfare and Mumbai's Dabbawalas during the lockdown. Recently, when he received the Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award, Suniel said, 'Don't do the things that get attention. But do things to remember. Give and forget, accept and always remember. ' Suniel talked about his career earlier. In an interview given during that time, he had said, 'Now it has become very difficult for him to choose a character in films.'
He had said about the upcoming projects, 'I am no longer young and don't look old so I don't get the role of father. I can no longer be a hero. Coming at this age and choosing the right character in films, according to his age, it is very difficult. However, Suniel will soon be seen in the gangster-drama film Mumbai Saga.
