Sujit Kumar, the well-known actor and producer of Bollywood and Bhojpuri films, always remembered for his films. Actor-producer Sujit Kumar, who worked in countless Hindi films, and his Bhojpuri was also the first superstar of cinema. The 75-year-old actor was suffering from cancer. Kumar was known for producing mega films like Khal (Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit), Champion (Sunny Deol, Manisha Koirala) and Aitbar (Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, and Bipasha Basu). Kumar was also a superstar of cinema from the 1960s to the 1990s. He has also been the most visible and reliable character actor in Bollywood.
The screen image of Sujit Kumar is made as a man driving jeep in Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore starer superhit film Aradhana. He was seen in many films like Hathi Mere Saathi, Amar Prem, Mehbooba, The Great Gambler, Adalat, Jugnu, Dharamveer, Charas, Dream Girl. He also performed villainous roles along with humour.
Today he is survived by his son Jatin Kumar and daughter Henna. Sujit Kumar hails from a village near Varanasi, he has acted in at least 150 Hindi films and more than 20 Bhojpuri films. Of all his roles, the more famous role was that of a detective in Ramanand Sagar's Aankein. He has also been seen in Dev Anand's Des Pardes.
