New Delhi: A Supreme Court bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud will hear a petition seeking a stay on the survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi, which is next to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

On Friday night, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana issued an order directing the registry to list the matter before Justice Chandrachud, which was posted on the Supreme Court website.

"We believe it appropriate to direct the Registry to list the matter before the Bench presided by Dr Justice DY Chandrachud," the ruling noted, citing Huzefa Ahmadi, senior attorney acting on behalf of the petitioner. The bench, on the other hand, had refused to give status quo, claiming that it was unaware of the issue because it had not examined the files at the time.

"The papers have yet to be seen. We have no idea what is going on. How can I pass an order if I don't know anything? Let me see, I'll read and then pass orders "The CJI stated.

The Committee filed an appeal on Friday, challenging an order of the Allahabad High Court allowing a court-appointed commissioner to inspect, survey, and videotape the Gyanvapi mosque, where Hindus and Muslims both claim the right to worship. It requested that the survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex be halted.

Survey of Gyanvapi will be done .., Supreme Court has refused to stop it.

After all, why doesn't the Muslim side want to allow a survey of 'Gyanvapi', is there really a 'secret' inside?
