New Delhi: Kerala has the highest number of cases of corona infection. Even then, the state has been ordered to relax the corona rules on Bakra Eid. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had warned the state government over the exemption and now the apex court has also asked the Kerala government to respond. The apex court will now hear the matter on Tuesday.

A petition was filed in the apex court against the Kerala government's decision to relax corona restrictions on the occasion of Bakra Eid. The petitioner had said that the exemption is being given at a time when corona infection is increasing in the state and the infection rate is also going up. The apex court also took cognizance of the UP government's stay on the Kanwar yatra following its remarks on stopping the Kanwar yatra and closed the matter. The apex court has also asked the Uttar Pradesh administration to stop any corona rule in the state from being ignored which puts the lives of citizens at risk.

Earlier, the Doctors' Association, Indian Medical Association (IMA) had also expressed displeasure over the kerala government's decision. IMA had categorically stated that it would approach the apex court if the Kerala government did not withdraw its decision to relax corona rules in Bakra Eid. The Vijayan government in Kerala has announced a 3-day lockdown exemption for Bakra Eid even after the situation in the state went out of control from corona, which has been resented by the IMA.
