The apex court was hearing a petition filed by Satish Uke, which said that Fandavis had not disclosed the alleged criminal cases under consideration against him. Without announcing it, the election to the Maharashtra Assembly has been announced by Fadnavis. In the petition, UK has alleged that CM Fadnavis did not show two criminal cases registered against him in an affidavit filed with the Election Commission during the 2014 assembly elections.
The Bombay High Court had rejected Satish Uki's plea seeking dismissal of Fadnavis' election to the Maharashtra Assembly. Uike had alleged that Fadnavis had not been informed of two criminal cases pending against him while filing nominations from Nagpur's South West Assembly constituency in 2009 and 2014. This is a clear violation of the 125-A of the People's Act, 1951.According to the petitioner, two cases were filed against Fadnavis in 1996 and 1998 on charges of fraud and forgery.
